There are 6 studio spaces at Void. One is used by our Artist-in-Residence and Education Co-ordinator the other 5 are occupied by local artists. The studios are an important part of the organisation’s remit.
"My most recent work, has included amongst other concerns, research into the notion of hybrid art forms and modes and conventions of display within galleries, and their readings."
"I'm working on promo videos for local bands, photography for my own research/interest, posters for various events and research into band/artist promotion/marketing"
"My work reflects an ongoing interest in contemporary visual arts culture. Through my work I have continued to explore issues that impact upon our lives and create debate in our society"
"The education programme has become my working practice for the time being. The critical engagement that I've tried to develop in the students of the Art school has in some respects made me question my own studio practice even more so.
This has led to a more rigorous questioning of the idiom of painting within the greater scheme of Art making, pieces made in the corridor such as Seven Line Poem have opened up other avenues that I might not have considered before, along with the social environments such as the Club nights made as a part of NULL."
Rent for the studios is £27.75 per week (waged) and £20.00 (unwaged) with 24-hour access. A deposit of £50.00 is charged to each occupant on taking up the studio and (subject to inspection) returned on vacating the studio. Each licence is for one year, with a six-month probation period and an option to renew after one year, if the occupancy has been mutually beneficial.
